Vivien leads ILIFA's advisory practice and is the primary architect of our export diagnostic service. Qualified as a lawyer in two common law jurisdictions, with experience at leading international law firms, Vivien brings rigorous analytical discipline and legal precision to every client engagement. Her legal background is directly applied to one of the most common pain points for small exporters: understanding and navigating import compliance, regulatory requirements, and contractual risk in unfamiliar markets.
Based across Taiwan and Hong Kong, Vivien conducts in-market research on Taiwan's retail channels, shelf pricing, and importer requirements firsthand - the on-the-ground intelligence that desktop research simply cannot replicate. As the founder of ILIFA's own premium African food brand, she has personal experience of what it takes to bring an African product to Asian shelves, from concept to compliance to commercial reality. Esther brings a strong foundation in finance, capital markets, and business development across Asia to ILIFA's advisory work. Prior to ILIFA, she held senior roles in private banking, institutional business development, and index and financial markets coverage across the Asia-Pacific region. She also holds a postgraduate degree in international finance and economics from a leading international university.
This background gives Esther a sophisticated understanding of how institutional and commercial counterparties in Asia evaluate risk and commercial opportunity - insight that strengthens the financial rigour and commercial realism of every advisory engagement. Her expertise is particularly valuable when suppliers need to think beyond product-market fit to the financial mechanics of export: pricing strategy, trade finance considerations, deal structuring, and the commercial viability of entering a new market.
